What Travel Buddies is

A community, not a customer list.

We are not a tour operator selling seats on a bus. We are a group of travellers who plan together, move together, and keep coming back the same faces show up trip after trip, and newcomers are absorbed easily.

Our vision

To make every region of Ghana reachable, affordable, and worth returning to travelled in the company of people who become friends.

How we do it

  • Regular, well-planned trips across all sixteen regions not just the popular three or four.
  • Costs kept low through group buying: shared transport, negotiated group rates, off-peak timing.
  • Money spent locally local guides, local food, community-run lodging wherever it exists.
  • A community, not a customer list.
  • Everything documented, so the next traveller doesn’t start from zero.

The problem we’re solving

Domestic travel feels inaccessible

People assume seeing Ghana is expensive or logistically hard, so they don't try.

Information is scattered

Route details, costs, where to sleep, who to call mostly locked in individual heads or WhatsApp threads.

Travelling alone is unappealing

Especially for young professionals and women travellers, solo trips feel unsafe or simply lonely.

Tourism concentrates in a few spots

Cape Coast, Aburi, Wli. Meanwhile Nzulezu, Wechiau, Sirigu and Boabeng-Fiema stay quiet and under-supported.

Weak trips to the north

The five northern regions are treated as a once-in-a-lifetime expedition rather than a normal weekend option.

Core values

Show up prepared

Routes checked, contacts confirmed, budget stated upfront. No surprises on trip day.

Nobody gets left behind

Financially or literally. Payment plans exist. Headcounts happen.

Spend where we visit

The community hosting us should be better off for our being there.

Respect the place

Ask before photographing people. Follow the customs of sacred sites. Carry our rubbish out.

Honest pricing

Everyone can see what the trip costs and what it covers.

Comfortable for everyone

Especially women, first-time travellers, and people coming alone.

Signals we’re getting it right

  • People bring friends without being asked.
  • Trips fill from the community before public announcement.
  • Local hosts call us back for the next season.
  • Someone in the group hits all sixteen regions.
